Another Week Down and...

not a single picture to post. That's not to say we aren't having a great time, I guess we just created memories vs. digital photos. We took our first salsa dance lesson on Friday, what a blast! And will continue to salsa on Friday nights...and our first salsa field trip to a club will be in 3 weeks, we'll let you know how many people we hurt. :) We have spent the rest of the weekend lounging around with friends and now we are getting ready for the upcoming week. Keep in touch and watch for more. Buenos noches!

The best town ever

We just got back from the most relaxing 4 day weekend ever. We went to a small town near the east coast near Vera Cruz called Tlocotalpan . Walking around the town is like walking into a painting. The food there is amazing. We celebrated Mexican Independence Day, ate authentic Vera Cruz cuisine and fresh seafood, drank some of the best tequila ever, and watched traditional dances. (There were some informal lessons in the middle of the street too) I think this is where I might stay forever! :)

We haven't done anything lately

Is anybody out there???????? I thought this blog thing was supposed tobe interactive. By the way this is Jake. Since I haven't given any of my friends or family this address yet ...hi Shannon's friends and family. We have both been working getting used to the private school system down here. At least for me the students are great, my co-workers are great, the school system itself is a little screwy. We recently walked down to this park we possed with statues. We might be going to a small town near Vera Cruz which is located in the middle of a river near the coast. I love Mexican Independence Day! (4 day weekend). I will put up some pics from the trip when we get back. Adios amigos and amigas.

Jake, Shannon, Daisy, and Marlie. :)

September 6, 2008

Ok, so I am new, like brand new at this blogging thing, so we will see how it goes...
Mexico City is unlike anywhere else I have ever been and in some ways, exactly the same. The Mexican culture is so welcoming, I wonder how I could have gone this long without experiencing it. The city is CRAZY, but we are adjusting. Everything is so fast paced, but everyone seems so leisurely, I am not sure how that works.
We have climbed ancient Aztec pyramids, stood in the window where the president will come out on Mexican Independence day, walked through parks littered with art and sculptures, tasted (ok, maybe more than tasted) Mexican tequila, visited a castle where previous leaders lived, and somewhere in all that, we have managed to fit in our full time jobs.
As we travel, we will add pictures (I hope) to share our journeys. Love to all those back home and more good times to our new friends in Mexico.
